#13 Community building isn't simple | HelioHype | ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’›

However, there are only 4 best practices to follow

Hello, Helios !I'm not misleading you with this title. Community building is actually tough. There are little to no rules and guides here. But, there are some best practices you can follow to make sure you become the best of the best out here. Those are simple rules that apply to any community. No need to reinvent the wheel.

Declare your vision

You need to make sure people understand why they're here and what they need to do. The best (and the most obvious) way to do that is by simply creating a manifesto.Write all of the things someone needs to do to make themselves a part of your tribe. You need to help people identify themselves with your community. That's how you create long-term Power Fans.

Choose the right words

Don't just call your members by their name, give them your own name. They need to wear it as a title, that way they know where they belong to.This is your goal - make those people a part of your community truly, not just in a fake way.Give them a name to form their identity. For example, Wiz of Ecom has a community called Utopia. All members of it are called Utopians.Makes sense? I hope I don't need to mention that a community isn't yours, it's your member's. So never say "my", say "our".

Make your members feel welcomed

You can do that using several tactics:โ€ข Have fun with it (host a welcome party)โ€ข Email follow-up sequenceโ€ข Pinned welcome postโ€ข Start here postEven better - mix all of those tactics and go all in.People would enjoy that!

Set rules or tone

Make everything transparent. Make sure people understand why they can get banned and how to prevent that. No dishonesty is allowed. Only transparency and trust!

Innovate in a subtle way

What do I mean? A lot of the times members say something like: "We like new things"What they actually say with those words is: "We like old things in a new way"That's what you actually need to do - present old things in a new wayPeople will be familiar enough with it to trust, but excited, because it's something new

I hope you've understood those basic universal principles!See you next Sunday!

Yours,Valeria
