"Only fools and family members join a community"

Hello, Helios! How did this new year start for you? If you've started it with creating a freshly new community, then this newsletter is definitely for you. Sit tight, bring yourself a cup of freshly brewed... tea? coffee? matcha? In any case, you'll enjoy reading about 5 steps to take to get to the next level with your community.Let's start with your question - "Where do I find first 10 members?"That's easy - ask your friends (sorry if you don't have them), family or any internet strangers you know to test your community. That's it. You have 10 "founding" members now.Let's talk about your next steps from this point:

  1. Use your existing social media to promote

  2. Don't worry about scaling - worry about quality

  3. Build a lot of hype, create news to grow interest

  4. Define the X factor

  5. Care about single-player experience

Let me break down each of those steps in a simple way.I guess I don't need to explain the part about social media, so I'll just omit it.But most of you might not understand why you don't need to worry about scaling over quality (even if your goal is to grow faster). The point is - people will talk about your community. It's up to you what experience they'll talk about. If you keep focusing on newcomers instead of nurturing your existing members, the latter will just go away from you. It's going to hurt your reputation. You don't want to do that.Creating hype is another art to talk about. You need to make sure that people view your community as a scarce thing. Create bottlenecks, onboard people in cohorts, show testimonials.X factor is a thing that is unique to your community only. You can only find it once you define who your community is and isn't for. You can only find it once you understand your member's needs and tune into them. The last point - care about single-player experience. Try to enter your community as one of your members. Do you feel cozy? Are you welcomed? Do you like it?Remember - what you feel about community is what members feel as well. That's it for now, I wish you having the best year in your life and creating top communities, ofcBye!Yours,Valeria
